Day 305 - Weigh-In
by Spacegoat on Jun.29, 2008, under Weight Loss
Good morning. Leaving the big 100lb milestone behind, it’s going to be business as usual the next several weeks. So I will get right to the numbers and move on. I weighed in at 262.6lbs this week which means I lost another 2lbs and I’m up to 102.4lbs lost.
I had a nice walk in Lebanon Hills park yesterday. I actually broke out into a run on a few occasions. It felt weird. I don’t see how people can do it on a regular basis. It’s jarring! I felt like I was going to lose internal organs or something. My skin is kinda “loose” which makes my outside move at a delayed pace to my insides. Maybe I just need to get more muscle tone. Still, I don’t think I’ll take up jogging any time soon.
After the walk I went to the hardware store and picked up some steel wire for a repair job on my recliner here at home. I did a hack mend job on a couple of broken springs to support the seat. It’s a real sloppy job (I’ve never been very crafty), but it did the trick. Maybe I’ll get a few more years out of this recliner yet.
I have no plans for today. I suppose I’ll do my housework and go from there. That’s it for me. Nothing very exciting I know, but what do you expect for nothing?
Day 302 - Thursday Itching
by Spacegoat on Jun.26, 2008, under Weight Loss
Good evening all. It’s Thursday already and I’m itching to post to my blog. It’s been a busy week at work so the week has been flying by. I won’t bore you with work stuff though. But I’m scratching my head trying to figure out what the hell I’ve been doing with myself since Sunday. I’m not exactly an exciting fellow don’t you know. I’ll give it a shot anyway.
I’ve been sporting my new threads at work this week. I’ve received many compliments. Now that I have clothes to wear instead of swim in, it has become more noticeable that I’ve lost a shitload of weight. Although I think the haircut has helped, and I’ve been keeping myself shaved. I actually bought some razors and shaving cream last week! I haven’t shaved with a razor for years. I have an electric shaver but more often than not I would just use a beard trimmer. Anyway, I hardly recognize me, so other people don’t have much chance.
I introduced a cool new gadget to my home theater system this week and it didn’t even cost me anything. I’m a Netflix subscriber and they have the online viewing on the Netflix now. I found out that there’s a Media Extender plug in available for it that allows me to push streaming video from the Netflix web site to my Xbox 360. That means I can watch online movies on my TV through the Media Center UI. It is a little klugey but it’s cool as hell. I’ve been watching episodes of Weeds, Bullshit, and the original The Office. The video quality is good. Not exactly DVD quality, but much better than Youtube. So at last I will never have to get up to put a DVD in when I want to be entertained! Thank you technology!
The losing weight thing continues to go well. I feel like I’m in the zone right now. I have the energy and my diet has been on the spot. It’s funny, but I’ve noticed that when I’m struggling I’m hungry a lot, but when I’m in the zone, I have points to spare. Who knows how that works. So I’ve gained only about a pound and a half back since my weigh-in which is really good. At this pace I will kick ass on Sunday and get a good jump on my 250 goal.
Right then. I’ve run out of stuff… so there it is. I’ll be off now. See you Sunday.
Day 298 - Weigh-In
by Spacegoat on Jun.22, 2008, under Weight Loss
I did it! This morning I weighed in at 264.6lbs, which means that I have officially lost 100lbs! I lost an even 3lbs this week for a total 100.4lb loss since August 31st last year. I was blind-sided this morning by the gravity of this accomlishment. After I plugged my weight in to my weight tracker, and I got the little purple 100lb star, it struck me, and I’m not ashamed to say that I was a bit choked up. I mean, 100 pounds! That’s amazing! How many people can boast such an accomplishment? How many people with 100lbs to lose have tried and failed? I don’t have the answers to those questions but I imagine it’s pretty rare to have lost 100lbs.
There’s no doubt that losing 100lbs is a huge accomplishment, but I’m not nearly done yet. I won’t stop until I weigh 200lbs. As always I set little goals for myself to make losing all this weight seem more possible. My next goal is kind of a special one because it takes me back to high school. When I was a Sophomore in 1986, I had gained some weight in the first semester. Once I discovered that I could no longer button my jean jacket around my bloated belly, I decided to do something about it. That was the first, and only other time I went on a diet. I weighed 250lbs back then, and I lost around 40lbs by the end of the school year. I did it by lifting weights and skipping meals. Not the best diet plan, but a 17 year old could lose weight just by wishing it. So anyway 250lbs is my next goal, putting me at my fat High School weight. My goal is to hit that 250lb mark by August 17th.
I have more fun weight-loss news. I went shopping for clothes yesterday! Unfortunately I have become to thin for my favorite shirt. That black Aloha shirt wraps around me like a robe. I have some older polo type shirts that I’ve been wearing recently. They’re OK, but I really prefer the camp style shirts. You know, the short sleeve button down shirts. Those polo shirts, I discovered were size xxl. That’s a regular size! I can shop at the regular stores for shirts. I managed regular guy pants about 25lbs ago but my mid section still required 3x shirts.
So I went to Kohl’s and got 3 new camp shirts and 2 new T-shirts. Then I went to TJ-Max and got a couple more T-shirts, and a stay dry type shirt for exercising. And then I found a pair of $10 jeans at TJ Max. They are size 40. That’s a little small yet for me, but it’s 10 bucks, and I will fit into them eventually, so I got em. Well when I got home I decided to try them on to see how far I have to go to squeeze into them. Well, actually they fit like a glove. Yay, I’m a size 40 now! How cool is that? So you’ll be sure to see me in my new jeans and shirt when I post my pictures later on today.
I also went on a monster walk yesterday. I went back to the Uptown area to walk around and look at prospective places to lease. I actually parked on the south side of Lake Harriet at around Penn and 50th, and walked north around lake Calhoun and back, taking a detour to those places I wanted to look at. I was on my feet for about 3 1/2 hours straight and walked a total of 10 miles. I was really really beat by the time I got back to my car. Fortunately I don’t seem to have acquired any blisters for my efforts. I did find some good prospects for rentals. I think I’ll cool my jets on that for now though. I can’t do anything until August anyway. I’ll look for vacancies then and tour the properties then.
Well that’s all I have today. I will get those pictures up at some point this afternoon. I need to do some housework clean myself up first. I hope you all enjoy your Sunday. I’ll write at you later this week.
100lbs! Woohoo!
