Back in the Saddle

by Spacegoat on Apr.14, 2009, under Weight Loss

It’s been about a month now since I figuratively hung up the scale. My intention was to test my instincts and stop tracking what I eat and try to maintain my wait or even continue losing a little. I thought I was doing OK, but as of Sunday I was up to 204lbs. That kind of sucks, but I’m not going to be all upset about it. I’m doing what I need to be doing by monitoring my weight, and now I will make adjustments.

So I went back to Weight Watchers last night. The Daily Plate is OK, but I’m used to Weight Watchers and I find it easier to count 30 points a day as opposed to 2,000 Calories. And rather than being wishy washy about my goal of kinda losing weight but kinda maintaining, I decided I want to go ahead and take it the rest of the way and get to a ‘normal’ weight.

I always thought of myself as a guy with a “large frame.” Back in the day I didn’t think I needed to be much less than 200lbs, but now I’m thinking I’m more normal than I thought. Granted, I’m still a little on the largish frame side. According to the medical authorities, a guy my age and height should be 132-174lbs. 132 lol! I’m thinking 180lbs is reasonable but they say men tend to see their ideal weight as more than medically recommended. So I’m going to get to that upper limit. Almost. I set my next goal to 175lbs.

I’ll shoot for that anyway, but I’m not going to set any kind of schedule. In fact I may never reach that goal. That’s OK. I just want to keep tabs on my diet. I set my weigh-in day for Wednesday this time so that it won’t interfere with my weekend. I’m going to try not to obsess about it. I won’t post my weigh-ins either, but I will keep you posted on occasion.

I haven’t had the pleasure of seeing Beck’s show yet, but he seems like a real nut job. I guess Hannity and O’reilly just weren’t crazy enough for Fake News.
