Hey Vern!!(al equinox)

Sorry about that :( but it’s a beautiful first day of spring here in Minneapolis and it has put me in whimsical mood. And yes, I know technically today is the second day of spring but yesterday was a week day, and 40 and rainy. Today it’s 58 and not a freaking cloud in the sky! So I think I will just rewrite history a little bit and call it spring, day one.

I waited until around 2:00 to head outside. I started some spring cleaning (it’s spring that’s what you call it now) before that but didn’t finish. I walked down Dupont along Lakewood Cemetery to the rose garden an then along the south side of Lake Hariet before cutting over and walking around Lake Calhoun. This is my 4th or 5th time out walking the lakes this year. Up until last week the walking path was still snowed over. But today it was cleared and almost completely dry. The snow is almost completely gone, but the lakes themselves are still frozen over. The paths were teaming with people. I guess everyone wanted to got out and enjoy this gorgeous weather.

I got a good workout for sure. Of course I also went to the gym first thing this morning, so I’m feeling satisfactorily worn out right now. That’s good since I haven’t been too terribly consistent with my exercising this week. I’m feeling kind of adrift now that I’ve reached my goal. I stopped tracking my meals. In fact I canceled my Weight Watchers account. With only a couple of exceptions, I think I’ve been eating about the same as always. I did get a pint of chocolate ice cream this week. I managed to not eat it all at once. I also got some normal (not light) bread. But I’m just preparing the same foods in the same portions. I probably added some calories but I’m pretty sure I’m still working with a deficit this week. My weight has been more or less consistent so far, but only time will tell. I really want to find a comfort zone where I can maintain a weight range without putting much thought into it.

Alright then, I think I’ll go make dinner now. Enjoy your first weekend of Spring.
